Thumbs down VTEC sometimes do not work

I still having problems with the Vtec.

Normal driving oil psi is 80 and when vtec kick in goes down to 65-60 psi. but sometimes vtec does not come.

I have a UR second Gen with 10W-40 oil, tuned with the AEM EMS

Checked the VTEC selenoin oil filter and clean it
Checked VTEC selenoin valve
Made valve adjustment, first and second cylinder where lower than specified (19 mm vs 21 mm stock limit)

any other suggestions?

Dalh

Vtec is at 6000 rpm.

When I get a chance will connect my pc to the AEM to get more information

If you use your laptop to tune the car, it should be in your workmap file.

My K20A2 hatchback lost VTEC as well. I was tuning it one day after the car was running for 3 weeks without any problems. Then the VTEC just sputtered out, and was intermittent ever since.
Im curious about something, but need more info on your situation:
When VTEC works, does it work through every gear?
My k20 would engage for about 3 gears, then by 4th gear it would cut in and out, then, it wouldnt engage at all, UNTIL I cruised for a few minutes. Then VTEC would engage again, but with the same cycle over again.
Let us know, I sold my hatch because I didnt want to mess with the VTEC issues(and I wanted another S2000), and Id like to try and help the purchaser out(he knew of the problem, dont worry!).

FYI, if you have not use, you can log vtec activity with the aem ems Juan. I found this useful when I did not get vtec due to speedo sensor fault.

Did you try going back to stock to try and isolate a single component? Also, when I logged my K20 hatch, the EMS said VTEC was ON, despite the fact that it was not. I did NOT have an oil pressure gauge, but why would it work fine for 3 weeks, than just quit? I even went with 15w50 oil shortly after, didnt matter.

When you say you checked the valve, did youapply power to it and make it switch? I am not using an EMS but I had problems with no VTEC after the car sat for almost 3 months while I was overseas. The solenoid was stuck from sitting so long. I tapped on the solenoid and hit VTEC a few times before it would work reliably. It works fine now. Something to try.
