Default wanting to turbo the s2k..

Hey guys,

To start off i'm new to the site and new to modding engines, i just got my s2k about half a year ago and its still all stock except exhaust and springs. i was wanting to know if you could just have a turbo kit put on without buying alot of new parts. I don't wanna have to spend over $4000 on it. I know your not sopposed to buy ebay kits but this one seems legit so could yall give me some input or help me out and tell me what you think of the kit? Also let me know if i need to purchase other parts the kit doesn't include. Here's a link... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TURBO...ht_4668wt_1167
thanks

Before you spend unecessary cash, waste your time, and end up broken hearted & pissed off.......you might like to read the thread that's about two lines down from your post.

Decided To Turbo The S2000

The "for sale post" recommends new injectors & a higher flow fuel pump, and a fuel management system....ALL good ideas with any turbo kit..!

Possible Downsides: The turbo does not appear to be "ball-bearing" & a bit small, along with the cast log manifold...you won't get as as much power output. Not saying that's bad just that you might want more later?

Also seller has only sold 563 E-Bay items....and DOES NOT ACCEPT RETURNS.....that's a buyer beware flag for me

Information is power....think it through

Thanks for the advice. So if i were to buy a kit like that, probably not off ebay, i wouldn't really have to buy new parts just new injectors and fuel pump and a good tune and i should be good?
sorry turbo's are a new world to me

if you don't wanna spend $4k then give up now. You'll need double that to have a good reliable setup that is properly done

stay away from ebay turbo kits, do it right the first time or your going to spend more in the end replacing all the junk from the first go

agreed. either stick to a supercharger or be willing to spend at least 6k for turbo. i wanted to do it right the first time and was hoping to spend only 7-8k but i think i will be getting near 10k soon =(. o well it will all be worth it cuz i got the ptuning kit!

Seems me and you are having the same problem, wanting to know if you can buy a turbo kit and put on a completely stock engine with a good tune? **question posed in another thread**

The answer to your question is "YES" you can put a turbo kit on a completely "stock" S2000 motor (AP1 or AP2, doesn't matter)......BUT........to get a "Good Tune"....so that your stock motor doesn't blow up, you will also need to invest in:

1. A Fuel Management System that allows for the Air / Fuel Ratios to be calibrated correctly...or...the "Tuning" you are talking about. Typically there are two types / brands used in the S2000 each with it's advantages: K-Pro, or AEM.

2. Upgrade the stock fuel injectors and fuel pump, which allows more fuel to flow into the combustion chamber / cylinder. There are many types & brands to choose from.

3. Find / source a good reputable tuner, hopefully in your area who has a quality dyno, good equiptment, experience tuning turbo cars and more specifically has tuned a number of S2000's in the past. Check referrences, and talk to other S2000 owners that had their cars tuned there.

Skipping any of these steps....and strapping on any old turbo kit (regardless of the co$t of the turbo kit) to your S2000, you may as well light your cash on fire and watch it burn, cause it won't be too long before that "Stock Motor" that was working just fine before you went down this path just straight blows it's $hit up

if you want cheap in cost then buy the Greddy Kit (used) and buy the above along with a clutch. If you want more then 330whp then go SC or a better turbo kit but it will cost you ~10K. Im at ~14k without a built motor.
