Gotcha. So it goes in like a nitrous kit almost? It's main function is cooling the engine and in doing so it allows you to tune for higher power with less chance of detonation. Is that about right?

Not quite. Nitrous goes in as a gas. Water goes in as a vapour, which doesn't compress nearly as well. Also, Nitrous oxide contributes extra oxygen in the combustion process. Water contributes no energy when "burned" (it doesn't actually burn). If anything, water in the form of vapour, absorbs energy when heated.

Put a price on that...information. I am considering this product (aquamist) from a very reliable source (my tuner) and member of this board.. Apperently it has benifits when running engines at high boost. Some say just H2O..no alcohol, but I am still learning. Check out Aquamist.com, and thank Bigpurp for the info......

They say just water because methanol will increase your octane to a point and become another fuel after that causing more detonation. However, methanol is added as a preventative measure so as to decrease the likelihood of the mixture freezing in the winter. Hence the 50/50 mixture max.
