Default Weird noise from turbo

I just installed my turbo again....this time however, I'm getting a wierd noise it idle. It does not sound like metal against metal so I know there is no shaft play, the turbo is pretty new anyway so that can't be it. It's sort of a deep humming sound, when I slightly rev the engine and let it go back to idle it does this then once it stabalizes at idle it goes away....

Hopefully this isn't too confusing....let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks!

My turbo make a wierd humming sound usually 10 minutes after hitting three bars on temperature gauge. I just assumed this is normal when the turbo itself is fully heated up.

are you talking about compressor surge? you rev your motor, and on the motors way back to low rpms(idle) it makes the noise. Check your bov is tight. It sounds like you have comp. surge, and vinsfeld I have no idea.

does the compressor surge sound come directly from compressor housing of the turbo? thats where i pinpointed the sound from and it only happens after the car is warm likevinsfeld said...

well, compressor surge is when you rev your motor up and the revs drop back down its not all the air is getting released by the bov causes the turbo to want to spin back the opp. direction.

yeah this is not compressor surge....its a weird hum...could it be possible that its coming from the recirculated dumptube? the dumptube was welded right after the turbo exhaust housing into the downpipe
