[QUOTE=xviper,Jan 23 2006, 01:32 PM] I'm wondering if severe "pistion slap" can do this?

Could this be the result of an overly rich mixture washing the lubrication out of #2?
I was thinking the same thing, but its kinda weird to be localized to just one cylinder.

I was pondering that it could be a clogged oil jet too. We'll find out once the block is yanked out.

Snap ring broken and it's debris and wrist pin scaring the cylinder, seems very localized, not like a compression or oil ring that would have moved with even more irregularity? Nothing on the opposite side?

One more thought, I noticed that you seemed to be pumping a ton of raw fuel out the exhuast at the Dragon last year, and the trip back. Hence the flames, and backfiring. So what I think could be happening is fuel washout. To much unburned fuel can wash the oil away from the rings, and cylinder wall, that you would pick up scarring. Just washing out the same spot over and over with no lubrication???? What you guys think?

Speaking very briefly with Earl Laskey @ Laskey Racing - he said that given the pictures that he believes the scoring was due to running the engine too lean.

Mark - to answer your question, no sir. The cylinder wall looks perfectly fine on the opposing side.

Yes, I was running the Comptech ESM for approximately 4k miles before switching over to the AEM EMS.

you got any dyno graph with your ESM? I seen a couple and have seen them reach 14:1 A/F ratio then running rich to a 12:1 A/F in higher rpm.

Unfortunately my Dyno Graph @ 7psi on Comptech ESM is HP/TQ only, no A/F Readings.
