this was my reply from pauter last may when i had the crazy thought of buying Ti rods. i thought they were maybe double the cost of the regular ones LOL
from pauter:
Current price for a set of 4 rods in titanium is $4720.00 (down from $5400.00) All titanium orders must be prepaid and they take about 12 weeks to manufacture.

maybe i should buy 2 ti rods and throw them in just so i could say im using Ti rods without paying the balleur price. anyone have any experience with the ILP rods though? I found a used set locally for dirt cheap

oh and i had pauter rods in my turbo prelude, never gave away so i have zero complaints.

Just remember this...if a rod set is $350-400 (eg. Eagle) retail, imagine what they cost to make for the distributor to make anything on them.

Think of it like running high quality forged Volk Wheels vs low end cast wheels like Rota.

I have seen these overseas rods bend, and even worse, fail as they snap and exit out the side of the block.

The reason why I would go with Ti Con Rods would be for weight savings on the rotating assembly. The added strength would just be a bonus.

But the price.....Ohmyjezusssss... LOL, I'm thinking that I woun't be at that level of competition for another 5 or so years, so I'll try contacting Pauter with a sponsorship proposal at that time.

Until then, I'll be looking into either the Manley (Turbo Tough) or Pauter (X-Beam Design), since nobody has any complaints with these guys so far. Quality/reliability speaks for itself. InlinePRO........maybe not.

But you need to understand that Ti rods stress cycle differently than Cro-Moly.

Differently, meaning a bad thing or a good thing? I don't have much knowledge on using titanium in engine components, besides the valve spring retainers... And from what I've researched, they need to be checked more often than SS retainers.. Strees fractures and such? I like learning about subjects that are often beyond the interest of the average enthusiast. And titanium connecting rods are included in that category.

Thanks Asura!

Hey guys, not to butt in, but I'm about to be running cryo'ed Eagles (motor is already assembled, bought it as a short block) and was wondering if anyone has been running them for a while. I don't want to tear it down obviously, but it's a turbo 2.4L and I don't want any issues. The shop that built it is very reputable so I'm not too nervous, just wanted some input.
