What are you doing to reduce engine temp?

Here is something interesting. So I was driving around datalogging about 2hrs ago and was watching the IATs. Outside temp was 93deg. IAT's hovered between 165-175. Coolant temps at 190-195. Got back to the house popped the hood and looked at my fancy carbon fiber cooling plate from an engineering point of view.

I noticed that honda already designed indentations in the hood to essentially do the same thing, which is to provided cooler air to the intake. I then pulled off the cooling plate completely and noticed a shroud below. That plastic shroud had vented slots in it. Those vented slots direct some of the air being crammed in from the front bumper and distribute it to the engine bay.

I realized that cooling plated eliminated the vents to the engine bay and directed them through the radiator. Leaving hot stagnate air marinating in the engine bay.

Long story short, about 30min ago, I got in the car and datalogged again. 93deg outside temp, Coolant temp 190-195 and most importantly IATs of 150-160 with extremes of 145 and 162. So after doing a back to back comparison, under the exact same conditions seeing a solid 15deg drop in IATs, that fancy CF cooling plate is no longer going to be on my car.

Anyone have pics of the hood spacers on their car? I've seen them on others but never on a s2k.

hood spacers are for lesser cars man. Get a vented hood, or vent your stock one.

I have the same one. I datalogged it only to find it did nothing more then increase IATs. You can keep yours on, mine is staying off.

Do you still have the black shroud under it? Mine is removed.

That may be the reason its not working? Maybe you can remove the black shroud and see what that does. I believe its just a few clips

You are supposed to remove the stock one if you install one of these aftermarket cooling plates.
