..and unfortunately unless hondata recently changed something the oem rsx o2 sensor does not work on the ap1's since they have a different set up with the o2 sensors(from my understanding)...
well on the hondata website it says to get the rsx o2 sensor...i must have left that part out(my bad)...you will need a wideband sensor while tuning for a/f ratios...if you want a wideband, plx makes a good wideband with a controller and harness that is very reasonably priced (its $200)...and it includes the sensor, controller, and harness, and it is very easy to install...
I have Kpro on my AP1. Here's the deal...
You have to change the parts listed on Hondata's site and use their supplied wiring harness with a S2000 converted RSX PRB ECU. That's it. The stock o2 works for narrowband. You CAN use the RSX o2 if you desire but its not exactly PnP. You have to make a harness and a few other funky details. Not worth it IMO.
As far as needing the AP2 parts - you have to remember that there are two different gen's of AP2's 04-05, 06-09. The 04-05 cars still need the parts above which come stock on the 06-09's.

i would much rather go with Kpro since i hate AEM.. their cold start problems are ridiculous... i dont mind spending extra money if its going to be done the right way.. I have not searched yet into this about kpro but i assume from your post they dont work on AP1's without some AP2 Parts? What is that all about?
its all in the friggin tune. cold start means your tuner didnt tweak shit. mine has started like stock down to 40 degrees ambient. heck, it was 60 here this morning, it fired right up, enriched, idle dropped down as it warmed, then i drove away.
you want the best for driveablility? get someone to tune it all, not just WOT fuel/timing

now, if emmissions is a problem in your area, then i would lean towards krpo. but you can pick up a aem ems v1 1052u for prolly a G in the for sale forum. your not gonna come close to that for krpo.
