Default what's the safe rev limit for a boosted car?

i'm personally interested in what would be the safe max rev limit i could put on a f22 motor w/ a greddy turbo set up.

but maybe other users would like to know this for other setups as well?

Stock rev limit? Do you have a built top end?

revving past redline with a greddy turbo isnt really worth it, at all.

no, just stock.

would i have to upgrade everything in the head just to rev to 8500 with Greddy FI?

it's because of the dyno curve right?

i just want to be cool.... thats all.

lol, ok then do it. I guess be cool and wear your engine when it doesnt need to.

edit :

Yes that turbo will run out of steam before stock redline so revving it more wont make you any more power and your engine would rather not rev much past stock since it side loads the pistons and will wear internal parts a LOT faster.

yeah, i saw a 1-2 posts about the premature wear on the internals and walls. but i also saw a ton of posts where people just rev their f22's to 8500rpm or 9000rpm without any problems. and a few more posts saying that they could not determine whether or not the engine failures were due to reving to those high levels or not.
so basically i don't know what to believe.

its fine to rev a f22 to 8500, but with a greddy turbo isnt worth it. Now with a GT30R or something larger revving a little past stock might benefit you. see what im saying?

The best way to determine this is on the dyno, where the horsepower starts to fall off, not the torque. That is where I would set the limiter as long as it is below 9000 rpm. You dont always have to rev it up that high, just when you are racing you will have the tune available.

a greddy turbo s2k has such a large and easily accessible powerband that increasing the limiter wont do you a thing. Just keep it stock if you are using that turbo. Its ok to rev to 8500 on an F22, not worth it with a T518Z turbo thats with the greddy kit. Get a GT35R if you wanna raise the limter so you can actually take advantage of it.
