Related but somewhat seperate topic, what's the deal with hitting the rev limiter on a boosted car? I've had times where I've bounced off the rev limited pretty good in 1st and from time to time 2nd. I'm assuming its worse in a FI car but can it be catastrophic?
Depending on your tune, its no different, it may even be SAFER than stock,Assuming your FI tune is a little rich for safety reasons.

I would try and limit this as much as you can, over time it may be adding wear and tear. I dont think your motor would just pop, but over time I dont think its good. When you hit the rev limit the ecu cuts fuel, which means it starvs and runs lean.

the ecu ( aem ) cuts ignition, and makes cool flames when hitting limiter. At least I think it cuts ign.

Thats entirely possible on the AEM, i'm not sure about that one. I do know that if your still running the stock ecu that it cuts fuel. I think cutting ignition would be better myself, though it isnt real great to load up the engine and have it back fire either. Bouncing off the limiter just doesnt seem like good practice no matter what your running.

There are very few reasons to bump up the redline. My major reason for building my head and block is to increase redline so that I can maintain vtec through shifts while racing. It keeps me in the sweet spot.

For your set up did you find that lowering vtec didnt produce more midrange power wile also accomplishing the same thing?
