ap2 8500 rpm rev limit stock unopened block. on both 8psi and 11psi, i made peak hp at 8400ish rpm. and that was before water injection to combat heat

^Yeah I have the greddy turbo and power does increase all the way to the stock AP2 redline of 8200, but just slightly. i really don't see the point an revving any higher because the tiny bit of hp you are getting isn't worth the possible damage to your engine. Just enjoy the greddy in its power band 3000-7000 rpms.

its fine to rev a f22 to 8500, but with a greddy turbo isnt worth it. Now with a GT30R or something larger revving a little past stock might benefit you. see what im saying?

ok ok. i get the point.

here's a harder question.
if you had an inline pro turbo kit, would you or would you not increase your rev limit?

Why are you hell bent on increasing the redline?

With a decent turbo you get more power from increasing the boost 1psi than you do from increasing the redline 500rpm.

Hope you didn't build your head for the sake of revving further then stock.

The stock f22 head is the same as the f20, except the f22 head has better valve retainers which is what cracks in an over rev situation, that and a different cam profile from the f20, which doesn't mean anything as part of the equation of handling a higher rev limit. The head on the f22 is not the issue when revving further, it will handle 9k rpm just fine, the issue is the piston speed.

Related but somewhat seperate topic, what's the deal with hitting the rev limiter on a boosted car? I've had times where I've bounced off the rev limited pretty good in 1st and from time to time 2nd. I'm assuming its worse in a FI car but can it be catastrophic?
