Widebody Turbo, What Next?!
It's been quite a while, but I had a AP1 with following.
Inline Pro built engine
Inline Pro Stage 1 turbo kit.
AEM ECU
Shine Widebody.
I sold her years back and the built engine had already been replaced one due to bad tune we suspect with too much timing blowing engine. Well that owner had a failure of engine again and it looks like the same damage. Piston one looks oddly cleaner than rest; and damage is so bad it's hard to tell how it started. Will update with pics.
How it used to be....

This is first failed engine after not many miles from suspected bad tune. Only piston with damage, but pieces from it trashed the other cylinders. It was rebuild by inline pro again after this with all new components.

SO here is my question people. I will have about $9k for a budget of rebuild. But I want a reliable track car, as this will be replacing a M3 that saw a lot of road racing. I don't have to go turbo again, and will do all the work myself, can weld and fabricate any steel projects. I'm thinking I will have better luck swapping in a LS1. Are their cheaper/reliable swaps out there. I've been to EFI advanced and now feel confident on tuning; so not scared to tackle another turbo build, I just wonder if the money would be better placed into a NA build of some sort. HP wise I'm fine with 260-450whp; not wanting much more as I know rear end is a POS after 400 from what I recall.

I will entertain supercharger idea. But not sure what really makes them more reliable, other than less components in the mix to break. I think turbo has the issue with heat primarily, can't tell you how much of a PITA it was to stop all the nuts and bolts from backing out from constant heat cycles of daily duty.
You mentioned tracking it, you may want to read this: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/102...tup-for-track/
Not a lot of guys have had a reliable successful turbo setup for the track. I think the LS swap would be fun, or a supercharger is probably more reliable.
