the new sound is actually quieter and sounds a bit restricted... sorta. the old sound had a distinct Sssssssssssssssssssssssss noise if that makes sense lol. so yes, i miss the sound it made before. but after you hit another gear and reach 15+ psi. you forget about it haha.

Haha I hear that. I miss the exotic sound of my old spring as well.

Who told you that?

According to Tial it doesn't matter. As a matter of fact they recommend a lighter spring than necessary: http://highboostforum.com/forum/show...672#post150672

On speed density (MAP) cars like ours, you're right; however, his current spring rating of 11psi equates to the approximate vacuum value at idle (1-inHg = ~ 0.49psi) (just enough to keep the valve closed at idle) which, according to the aforementioned link, is what TiAL recommends (if you want to keep the valve closed at idle).

An excessively strong spring would likely cause surge. We're in agreement there.

Well when its open at idle it makes a loud annoying noise that drives me crazy. I have also noticed it responds a tad quicker having it closed.

As long as you're not surging, you'll be fine with your current spring.

Agreed, but I wanted to make sure everyone knew what he said before was not correct. I'm still curious as to where he heard it from.

Apologies if my post seemed to be contradictory to what you were saying; it was meant to coincide (ie. either way is fine because we use speed density sensors)

I didn't mean to say that you HAVE to have it shut. Because of the noise it makes while open... the rep that I talked to said the best way to fix it is to put a heavier spring in...

small update- after seeing the turbo blanket from "the diesel turbo powered s2k" guy i had to check it out... i called levi as instructed and the guy made one specifically for my turbo! the thing is awesome and was crazy cheap. no idea on how long it will last but it fits and looks awesome. i would highly recommend looking into it if you need one. the guy is awesome to deal with.

I also got the Tial Q bov spring deal worked out. i know there was some discussion about what spring is best.. blah blah. well.. IMO i have found the right one. it is the -10psi spring (PLAIN). stays shut when idle, and opens after even the slightest revs. for me, this is the way its supposed to work. if others feel it should work different that is perfectly fine, im not trying to make anyone upset.
