Default Yet another DIFF

Ok so for about 3 weeks now my 02 has been turbocharged. im making 405 whp and going down the street in 3rd i decided to do a pull. it started as a more vibrating whine noise but as i slowed to my house as slow speeds more of a clicking. I can shift into each gear perfectly fine, i have no signs of any gear being different, but it has the clicking of like a card in a bike tire and low RPM in any gear. i have no issues shifting or turning or braking. im pretty sure its my diff but its 12 pm here and im not gonna look into it until tomarrow. Now any takers ? any advice ? any input ?

if it is my diff which im almost positive it is, what are my choices of a differential build. I want it to be clearly stronger and money isnt a huge issue but im not looking to spend 3 grand either. Any opninions or options ?

Drain the oil from the Diff and check for metal in the oil. If yes then you blew it. Options are PuddyMod built diff (on here), InlinePro R200 rearend, or Fullblown 8.8 rearend....If you want stronger then you will spend 3K. PuddyMod can build your diff (if its savable) and the other two are other diff kits from other cars.

Stock ap2 diff W/reinforced carrier bearing end caps. Cheapest solution and stronger then stock, being that it the weak link of the stock diff. Stock end caps flex under load, and overtime throw the ring/pinion out of alignment and one day crunchy time happens. How much trq you have and how hard you put it to the diff will dictate how long before this happens.

If you don't do anything, at least get an ap2 diff to replace since it has thicker end caps over the ap1.

Yeah, if you can't afford a 20K transmission you shouldn't have turbo'd the car! Hang on, I can't afford a $3K diff either!

i'd spend the money.. do the ford 8.8 conversion. parts to rebuild the thing to exactly what you want are super cheap and you will never have to worry about breaking it.

Unfortunately, if you want something significantly stronger than stock, it does have to be done.

8.8 sounds like my best option Right now. Time to do some reading.
