Default alaska pics

All pics taken with my Nikon D70.

Typical processing in photoshop:
1. Exposure and color-balance tweaking.
2. Crop and/or resize for screen viewing.
3. Sharpen to reduce the blur caused by the resize in step 2.

I'll try to remember to fess up if I've manipulated a particular image more extensively. Otherwise, assume that the image is "true" or "pure" or whatever, except for the above operations.

bald eagle on small iceberg

humpback whale and sea lion

sea lions on buoy

orca breach

bald eagle

ice calving

at sea

bridal veil falls <fess_up>I pumped up the color saturation on this one</fess_up>

McKinley aerial, complete with airplane wing

glacier landing, with McKinley in the background

Kenai Fjords

Alaska is, quite simply, the most amazing place I've ever been. Growing up in Florida -- which is very developer friendly (to put it mildly), and thus has a big problem with over-building on its scenic areas -- Alaska's millions (yes, millions) of acres of untouched beauty is almost impossible for me to believe. I strongly encourage anyone who has not been to go ... now.

Hmmm. Well, they're not.

Are you saying that the pics are good, and so I must have stolen them? If so, then thanks, I guess. However, none of the pics are pro quality. There are certainly better pics to steal, if I were going to do that.

For example, the eagle in the "bald eagle on small iceberg" pic is a bit blurry, as is the whale in "orca breach". The bald eagle close-up pic is a bit noisy, though I could probably clean that up in photoshop. Maybe the "sea lions on buoy" pic is close to pro quality, and I like "glacier landing, with McKinley in the background".

Anyway, I don't know what you want. I've taken a full-semester photography course and done quite a bit of self learning, and I have a really good camera. Those pics are mine.

FWIW, a lot of the "keepers" came from the excursions.
My guess would be that you really need to go ashore to see Alaska.

Sounds like a great trip. Thanks for sharing.
