i think you should just cover the whole door with alcantara. IMO, it looks weird that the theres more alcantara on the door than leather.

The results are amazing, very high quality work. I'm wondering how Alcantara does getting wet, which is sure to happen to the top part of the door panel.
Should be fine. Alcantara is touted as being stain and chemical resistant to a point. I know lots of other car manufacturer's use it around the door panels as well.

I thought about that as well. The Alcantara is pretty resiliant though and amazes me how easily it cleans with just warm water. I've actually take straight acetone to it with no problems or fade. As for what made me cover the top of the panel, I think it would look incomplete after I did the dash and not covered the tops of the panels. Especially since the passenger side of the dash kind of spills over into the panel.

This is something that I definitely plan on doing to my car eventually. I think perhaps that I'll try to break up the alcantara by getting a perforated section to go on the door panel insert.

BTW, thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions. After this is complete, the dash and door panels will definitely be available as a package through a group buy here.

Do you recommend 303 Aerospace Protectant to prevent fade?

No, that's for protecting vinyl. Alcantara is a polyester blend I believe.

Per the Alcantara website:

I want the center console and the door inserts just like that. Definitely let us know when they go into production. Sick is not the word . . .
