As for the quality of 'real' alcantara (SPa), the real stuff is sooo much nicer than the fake stuff out there. I recently had ordered a set (shift, ebrake boots, and arm rest cover) for my M3 that was made out of the fake stuff and I must say that the quality and feel is nowhere near the real stuff. The black isnt really black, and though I had prepared myself for the little fuzzies, after one week, the entire armrest was covered in fuzz and the stitching had begun to tear through the shoddy material.

The vendor graciously accepted the return, and I had outsourced a professional ulpholster make me new pieces out of the real stuff. It cost double the price of the fake stuff, but well worth it imo.

I have noticed that with a few brands. I use Keyston Bros for my regular supplier and they have a material that is very good and that does not flake off. It's called Street Suede and it's the closest to Alcantara that I've been able to find. The only difference is the backing isn't as thick and the nap is a bit thicker and closer to actual suede.

WOW this looks very impressive - I love what you did with the center armrest section!

I had my interior custom stiched with perforated black/yellow leather to mimick the OEM red/black interiors but never though of using alcantara.

Are you doing this on the side or offering this service to forum members as well? PM me since I'd like to get some custom work done by you if you are interested.

Looking to buy some BRIDE reclining seats in black and want to do a custom leather/suede combo on the seats. Is this something you might want to tackle?

late,
rick

Are you doing the trim ring around the instrument cluster in alcantara? I think this would be a great upgrade for people that want the alcantara upgrades but don't want to do the entire dash.

hey Cyclone beautiful work! Will the Alcantara boot and arm rest that you posted above be the same price as the previously listed prices? or will the alcantara cost more?

It's all hand made with lotsa of TLC - not a JDM bezel (notice the angle towards the driver)

Basically it's wood, putty, and fiberglass resin.

Read this thread I created on the subject:
