Default Comptech Airbox With A Vortech Sc

I had always planned on building a bigger airbox around the Vortech's Air filter. opportunity presented itself when found a used Comptech CAI a few weeks ago.

I had to cut a large hole in the back of the box to clear the SC. With some help from a friend, I then made a fiberglass plug to cover the hole. some JB weld, bondo and sanding, primer and paint finished everything off.

I also block sanded the scuffs on the Carbon lid with 2000 grit and recleared it. I think it turned out well.

The back of the Air box is covered with Aluminium foil tape, as an attempt to keep the heat from the SC and exhaust away from the filter.

Not yet installed is the neoprene rubber boot to seal the hole where the filter passes though the airbox.

There is no making the hole any smaller. You have to remove a large section not only to clear the SC while installed, but you have to be able to angle the box in and around the horn bracket.

My air filter is also not the one provided with the Vortech, It's quite a bit larger, and has an ofset angled inlet.

You are limited by the 3.5"dia 90deg elbow where you can get the filter, as the Comptech pieces are not angled to work with the Vortech SC.

The hole the filter passes through will be sealed as soon as I finish making some more parts.

Thanks for the compliments!
