sorry, vid next - hard to let it out on the freeway because you're breaking the law real fast... the ITB sound is only distinct and best for the last couple thousand rpm

what accounts for the dip prior to vtec engagement and can that be smoothed out? a little unfair to say +31 HP @ 6K while the stook ap2 hasn't engaged in vtec yet. i do like the numbers though. i'd like to do itbs one day but since my s2k is my daily, how much of a hassle is it to recalibrate the ems for the weather?

The vtec dip is really hard to get rid off, don't know if it's even possible - even stock ECU has it. That's why it's set at 4200 so we don't have to deal with that dip at the track.

You are totally right about the spread on the chart occurring at the stock vtec point, I would guess the rest of the gap in that very important RPM range is more like +25. Which is awesome considering about 50lbs were removed from the front of the car to install the ITBs.

The weather will be a factor with a 10-15+ degree difference, of course that would just be a tune-up rather than a whole new tune. The EMS also adjusts somewhat for barometric pressure changes - mine is turned on but other folks don't trust this feature to adjust accurately. Either way, the problem is that you become obsessed with the performance of the car and will want to retune relatively often.

It looks to me like the dip is due to vtec being set too low without a test pipe. I'm sure raising vtec and retuning should get rid of that dip.

I've seen similar things happen when 06+ owners run the Toda Hondata reflash without the supporting mods (ie. aftermarket header, testpipe, freeflowing exhuast)

so a race car shop couldn't get rid of the vtec dip (or Honda) but a testpipe will do the trick?
