The exhaust pitch of a rotary changes more drastically with different exhaust configurations than of any engine Ive ever dealt with. The same engine can go from raspy and buzzy to deep and growling with just different muffler configurations. When done right, IMO they sound great. But yes, el cheapo E_bay muffler ( Or apex'i N1) makes them sound like ass. The exhaust of a rotary has very strong pulses, which can make thin-walled or porly constructed exhaust piping reverberate. Its all personal taste, but that N/A 20B is music to my ears.

AH! I hate the LS1 conversions! Its not meant for the RX7... If you like the RX7, like the mechanics... maybe not the TT but a single turbo would stop it from popping the engine as often ...

uhh yeah those are pure hardcore le mans race motors, not your average street 13 or 20B

all the 2-rotor and 3-rotor engines i've heard have always had this obnoxious buzzing noise that sounds like the furthest thing from those le mans race cars

watch the Tsukuba 10,000 rpms battle vid and listen to the 3-rotor FD that Tsuchiya drives and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about
I thought you were referring to ALL rotary engines.

Yeah, I watched the "Battle At 10k RPM" vid and thought the sound of RE Amemiya was peculiar. I immediately figured it was because it was N/A and using an bonafide header and exhuast setup. It almost sounds like a low pitched "hum".

the only reason people have problems is because they don't take proper care.

Rotaries are fantastic engines, but are only for pretty special ownders. **** the LS1 up its big goofy ()() give them another 5 years with these engines and the reliability will be there, it is all about R & D. Mazda is the ONLY successful producer of this type of engine, how old is the tech. used on the LS1?

not to mention, when did the U.S. stop getting these cars? development continued long after that.

have you ever looked for an FC or FD to buy in the U.S? my god what a bunch of poor cars, raped beyond belief or completely unmaintained, hey it is a Japanese car so it must be unbelievably reliable.

and there is no way in hell the balance of the car is unaffected. weight distribution isn't the only thing that effects balance.

the whole point of these cars was to try something different, leave these cars alone you goofy american bastards that little motor done blew up! its obviously a piece o shit. ahh bet we can fit a V8 in there. and since its got a V8, we don't even have to do anything else and it will still be fast, Yee HAW!

a much better swap would be a F20C into an FC or FD. and that would still be blasphemy.

just because people in this country don't know what they are doing with these cars doesn't mean no one in the world does.
