I dont recall anyone measuring the temps with and without the shields. Since this one worked out well im probably going to use this one for a template to make one out of steel. It will be alot stronger and take the heat better. So ill only use this one temporarily.

^^just apply some resin.....or rivits, and some real carbon to the steel one you're going to make, or just stick to aluminum and do the same thing like that one guy on here did awhile ago and sold them for like $100

Thanks everyone. Thats not a half bad idea, later on ill see what I can do! I got the metal from my dad (he works for a heating and air company). I didnt know this was actually steel. I thought it was aluminum sheet metal but I guess not! It is pretty thin though, I think its 26 gauge steel. Maybe I can just try to get some thicker stuff to work with still.

Why would it not work? I guess all of the people that produce these wont work either.
lol that's not what i meant. It's hard to explain what i was talking about. I was talking about the vinyl and the heat. whatever, im over it. creative project though.. reminds me of a friend who does alot of custom work to his car. always so carefully planned, measured, and made.

Nope, no hitting at all! I originally had a mount on the left side of the wall by the a/c line. I made it longer since the metal is pretty flexable so it moved with the motor. But I know over time it probably wouldnt hold or it will bend something so I cut that peice off. I didnt have any problem with it, but knew it would happen sooner or later so I went ahead and got rid of it.
