[QUOTE=krnmike,Mar 30 2010, 10:58 PM] lol that's not what i meant. It's hard to explain what i was talking about. I was talking about the vinyl and the heat. whatever, im over it. creative project though.. reminds me of a friend who does alot of custom work to his car. always so carefully planned, measured, and made.

Ohh okay, sorry about that man. I know the vinyl wont last that long, but I might wrap one in real cf once I make a thicker steel one. Im not worried about this one!
if you are planning on buying resin + carbon fiber fabric + sand paper to create your own heat barrier.. i suggest you save time and money and purchase a dry carbon fiber sheet. this way, it's less messy & you can just cut/rivet the sheet. whether it's glued on or resin'ed on, after a couple heat cycles i think the steel and resin will slowly part from each other because the expanding rates are different. also, a greater size would be great as well.

if u're using it in a place where temperature always fluctuate in extremes, use dry carbon. the abundant resin of wet carbon - that gives its gloss - expands differently than the carbon fiber itself.

here u go, maybe u already know sites like these:
