My 2004 S with....Rotas!
[QUOTE=SIIK2NR,May 25 2005, 07:48 AM] I don't care for them, but hell you got em for FREE....
If someone gave those wheels to me for free.....I would have sold them, combined the money with some of my own and bought wheels that are staggered and fit the s2000.

I have a set of Rota slipstreams 16x7 on my daily beater/wifeys autoX/HPDE car which happens to be a WRX. The Rotas are hubcentric, in the correct offset, lightweight and strong. All you bling bling guys with JDM wheels etc know that MOST of your wheels are generic fit (meaning not hubcentric, you need plastic/metal spacers) and few have the correct offsets, right?
The Slipstreams will fit the S2000 about as well as most of the other generic, aftermarket wheels out there (non hubcentric, offsets in the high 40mms range etc).
All I know is that I see way more Rotas than Volks/Regmaster etc. at the tracks and autoX I go to.
For me, correct fit means the coorect bolt pattern, offset and hubcentricity. The Rotas (which are built in a state of the art ISO9000 plant and meet VIA, JWL, and ISO certifications) are a good, cheap wheel. Great for the WRX. For the S2000, the fitment is suboptimal (non hubcentric and non staggered with slightly low offsets). Probably fine for the street but not wide anough for the track which is why I use MY03 and MY04 wheels with my r compounds.

IMO when it comes to "wheels".....it's the most important aspect of the car regardless of FI or NA setups.... I was school'd on this early..... and learned quickly when I made the transition from front to rear wheel drive cars..
Skimp on wheels and tires and your most likely going to skimp on other things.... it's basically a sign of what's to come. I think you'll find this to be true. Skimp does not mean money...it means combination having "thought out"...
Doesn't mean everyone needs $$ wheels but the point that I make is that I purchase parts/accessories which where made specifically for or have the correct application for the S2000. This includes my SC.
Your anology would have me to fabricate my own kit with universal parts or claim that ANYONE who modded their car for better performance or faster speed should have bought a faster car.
I could have bought a faster car....and I will eventually. For me FI is just another step in modding that some people arent' willing to cross or just don't care too.
I've always enjoyed taking a nice car and making it nicer or "ricer" if you will
..... personalizing it is what make it a hobby. If I go out and buy a exotic....what's left to do?.... boring....I'll wait till I'm too old to turn a wrench before I evenually get my exotic...
I simply gave my opinion of his setup..
Not everyone likes my setup either...but like I told him..."your car, your style"

They look good...as for performing worse, the non-staggered setup is fine for street use. How do I know? I've daily driven my S2000 through Chicago winters with a non-staggered setup during the late fall and through winter.
I currently have some Rotas on my Integ and those things have taken a beating from me for the past 12,000 miles. They've also gone through whatever the previous owner had put them through. Those wheels are rock solid. They put up with way more than my OEM S2K wheels ever did.
Would I put a Rota wheel on my S2000, no, unless they came out with a M7 upgraded clone in 17" all around with proper offset and width. Notice I said "upgraded clone", seeing that the Mugen NSX setup is a 16"/17" setup.
Can't very well be a "copy" if they don't match up the sizes.

IMO The wheels look great on the car. Definately a great deal if one were to pay for it, even better that u got them for free.
Personally, I'd sport them if it was a staggered setup. If its just about looks, then what the hey? 90% of the people who see your car will never know they're rotas, or would care what rotas were. They obviously look good.

LOL! I could always say that they are Regamaster Brites, now couldn't I
However, I am not a poser. Yes, they are not staggered. However, the tires are staggered and I will be purchasing 245 rears as well as rear spacers so that they are "truly" staggered.
You guys also have to realize that the roads in Gainesville are EXTREMELY shitty. My roommate alone has bent 2 18" wheels here just because of potholes. I'd rather bend a Rota then a Volk.

Nice job of making your car perform worse by not doing a staggered offset.
