I heard from somewhere that for HID lights to work properly the housing has to be black. From cars I have actually looked at with HIDs I've notice the housing were black, but then again maybe I just havent looked enough.

Since I have numerous headlight housings (two sets with clear corners)... I'm going to give it a try:

Painting the inside Silverstone... I will definitely do this before Rick's Fall Colors Meet so I can get second opinions... Plus, if I don't like it, I can always put my original clear corner ones back...

When I finally do it, I will definitely post pics...

Thanks for all of your PhotoShop examples guys!

The BMW's housings aren't black. The Audi's housings aren't black. The Modena's housings aren't black. The Catera's housings aren't black. The Porsche's housings aren't black.

Have you seen these?

StudentDriver actually did this at the same time he did his clear corner mod. He has a Silver Black and it looks very nice...

WRS2K

From what I recall when I saw it, it was just the black part. If I see him at the SoloII event this weekend, I will grab a pick and post it. Basically, it Looked like the white one at the top of the post, but in silver. There were also a couple of other posts which discuss this, I also think MDGRIPPA did the same thing. I have not seen pictures posted.

The housing probably wouldn't be very difficult to paint. The question is whether to spray or brush the paint on. Spray would require an almost impossible masking job if the HID lenses couldn't be removed from the assembly. I think it looks better with the clear corners, instead of painted all the way across. Its a much more aggressive look.

No. Painting it all completely body color like the Modena would make it look completely done. It would look soooo good. I would definitely clear out my ambers if there was a way to paint everything body color. How would we match, though?

Can people who have done the job comment on this, por favor?
