I have a MY2000 car and it doesn't get out as much as it should. I took it out at night and noticed that my tail lights don't light up much. There's just two small lights at the extreme left and right side. When I step on the brakes, the very back bulbs light up very brightly. I was wondering what the steady state for the "running lights" is supposed to look like. Do I have bad bulbs on BOTH sides? Is there something wrong with my wiring? If folks could post what your tail lights look like when you just turn the lights on (no brakes, reverse or anything) I'd like to compare. It's surprisingly hard to find a picture of this on the internet. Should the bulb be lit at the back of the tail light?
FYI, I have modified my sidemarker lights to be on with the headlights. Modifry sold the units to do that. I think the picture displays the info you wanted.
I think the bulbs are 7443, which are dual filament bulbs that shine with the headlights on and blink brighter.

Ok, you've confirmed my suspicion. My rear running lights are definitely out.
Thanks. Time to think about replacements or maybe conversions to LED.
