Default Photoshop Advice

`I am trying to post pics on a different site and they keep saying my files are too large (50K max). I have croped them down to nothing and they're still too large. Any suggestions?

download a pic from that site that they have allowed to be uploaded.

trim your photo to approx. the same dimensions and file size as the pic u downloaded.

if they are still rejecting you, it is a problem with the site.

Good tip, pics for the web should be at 96 dpi max with 72 being the norm. Also make sure you have the JPG compression set to no more than 50-55 for your average web image. Only go higher if it's badly distorted.

What also makes a huge difference, and there isn't much you can do about it, is the level of detail in the subject matter. Busy backgrounds or lots of small intricate details don't compress well since there are fewer areas of similar hue/saturation/color and contrast for the compression algorithms to work with.

what i do is "save for web" which brings up a menu, and work with it.
once in the "save for web menu" you can play with the quality and blurring it a lilttle. it shows you a preview of the picture as you work.

I use that for all my avatars, seems to keep the quality sharp and crisp.

Host it at www.we-todd-did-racing.com . Their site occasionally goes down though.

Just open it in Paint and save as another file.
