These were taken with my Sony DSC-F717 (considered a prosumer camera moreso than a Point & Shoot), but you can pick these up on eBay for around $400 these days. Eventhough I use my 20D most of the time now, the Sony comes out when I'm worried about damaging the SLR. The Sony also makes for a fantastic IR camera (2nd picture). Photoshop helps too

I will say that SLR should only be a consideration if you don't mind spending a good deal of money. The body is typically considered the throw away piece of equipment while the lenses are the investment. Quite a bit of the good glass (lenses) cost more than the bodies! Using a DSLR is much more rewarding IMO than just running around with a P&S.

If your photos are only going to be posted online, and always at an Internet size then the SLR is probably not worth it - pick up a Sony DSC-F___ 707,717,828 on eBay

Now here is my question for all you photo pros out there in s2ki ville. I am looking for a high-def good quality camera for school purposes only. And I was wondering what would be some good choice for me, but not too much money. Cause I am heading back to college this sept. to get an art major..
