My friend and I went out to Santiago Canyon today to take some photos and explore the back roads...

My car: MY00 Silverstone/black, ebay CAI, voodoo countersunk knob, Apex'i N1 exhaust... 203whp/138wtq (with intake only)

His car: MY96 Montego blue Miata with Jackson Racing supercharger @ 6psi, racing beat catback, wheels, hardtop, etc... 155whp/132wtq

Clean and tidy cars....

 

I own a 2006 Mazda MX-5, its tons of fun. I think these two are pretty good rivals in Autocrossing. But on the track... well... a bit of a handicap is needed.

 

i think they both need to be lowered and the wheels on the miata need to be ditched

 

I know how light they are and it probably moves with it, but a couple grand on a blower and 6psi only does 155rwhp?

My friend plans to lower the miata soon, and he bought the car used with those wheels and hasn't bothered to replace them. I can't lower my car at the moment because my driveway is too steep and I can barely avoid scraping as it is now.

Believe me, his car is plenty fast. Power/weight ratio for our cars is pretty close, and he definitely has better torque/weight. Neither of our cars are drag cars, and through the canyon the S/C miata seems like a pretty good match for the S2k.

Keep in mind these 1.8l miatas had under 100whp stock

S2k sounds good what exhaust?

 

Apexi N1 catback... drones a bit in the 3-4k range under accel./decel. but it's pretty much silent if I'm just cruising. It's very deep at low rpm, and after 5500 or so it quiets down a lot so you can hear the engine... it's got a nice rumble on downshifts also
