sad sad weekend...
I'd say if you have the stock parts then swap them out with your aftermarket parts.
Salvage value can range from $2,000 to $6,000 depending on the condition of the car before & after the accident, also a Salvage title will affect buy back price as well as what the insurance company will pay out.
Which insurance company is the other driver with?

If the motor was pushed back, we don't know what kind of damage there is to it or the transmission. If you are going to buy it back, I would not spend more than $1,000.
As far as this sort of situation goes, it is really hard to do, but just slam on the brakes, and don't steer. The only reason to swerve is if you already know that there is no one on either side of you, no pedestrians, and nothing to hit. As it was said above, if you don't hit him, it is hard to prove that it was his fault unless there is video, someone saw it, or he is a nice guy.
Plus, it's safer for you. Cars were designed to crash into other cars, not trees...

sounds like you're good to go. As long as you're the registered owner then Progressive usually has a quick turn around time for total losses. You'll probably have a check in hand by end of this week or early next week.
Good luck on your next project and glad you're ok
