In Taiwan (ROC) they speak Taiwanese (maybe some Mandarin too?)
Actually, the Standard Language in Taiwan is Mandarin. This is what you're taught in school growing up. Taiwanese is spoken as a second language and not everyone knows how. Although, a very high percentage of people do speak or understand Taiwanese in one way or another.

ya have you ever been to india? 2hrs out side and your hair will have collected so much freaking exhaust fumes your hand will be black with soot if you touch your hair, but i still love the place
Main land China (country side) is probably just as bad! ....about 100x worse than what Gabedude experienced in Taiwan and probably on par with India (though I haven't been to India). The only thing better is perhaps the air dued to lack of popution due to technology. But, the smells usually makes u think otherwise. Vietnam, Philipines, Tailand, Hong-Kong...etc. all have the same story. It's so typical....it rarely bothers most Asians.

Just about the only places where you'll be is Japan and Sigapore. Talk about c l e a n ! ! ! Even there, you can still find 'those' places in the deep country sides.

I love Civic hatches CRXs. They're light and you can make them really quick.

I just don't like how people make them ugly by putting on those altezzas or if people just get them cuz they're trendy. A lot of my friends have hatchbacks and CRXs, all quick and in sleeper mode.

Wait a minute.. I have a hatch too!!, ahha

I don't know too much about Taiwan, but Vivian Tsu comes from there, so it can't suck that bad.
Oh, and that professional billiards player too... Jennifer Chen? I can't remember her last name, but she's cute too.

GabeDude,
For the really good stuff in Taiwan You must go to the Outdoor martkets and get stuff to eat from the street vendors. They've got killer "roast beef" noodle soup there. You get some raw garlic on the side, and some hot sauce! Not Bland at all.

Oh, by the way I was born there and moved to USA when I was 6yrs old. Been back there a couple of times. Taiwan is Food, Drinking, and Shopping for Petit Girls. Enjoy!

smccurry,

You're correct. Jennifer's last name is Chen. I also play competition pool and I've known her since '93. Last time I saw her was a couple of years ago in Valley Forge, PA. We went out for lunch. She isn't very talkative.

Yeah, she's a hottie.

There are assloads of hot girls here. At least thats good. I'm getting used to it now. Just had a bad case of culture shock. I still have not seen an S2000 and I'm staying at the Lai Lai Sheraton in downtown Taipei. Iv'e seen several Porsches, loads of BMWs and Mercedes. And there are so many lowered, wheeled Civic hatches and Lancers its unbelievable. Anyway, if you want to see some pics I've been taking check out http://gabedude.dyn.dhs.org/taiwan

Another word of advise.

If you have a Chinese counterpart let him do this. When buying anything, except for food, ALWAYS HAGGLE! They mark everything up 100% or more. So lets say your buying a Budda statue for 1000NT start Haggling at 500NT You'll probably meet at 650 or 700NT. Do this especially in the open markets.
