Thanks for the pics gabedude. I feel like I've already been there
I don't see what you're complaining about. You've got your pringles, Ballantines, and the latest issue of Road and Track
There sure are alot of motorscooters there; probably due to the congestion.
Hey, I didn't see one pic of a hottie! sorry..... 1 track mind.

I spoke Mandarin Chinese with her, but she also speaks Taiwanese. Her English is so-so, but it might be a lot better now.

It was just two of us. She was in a hurry to catch a plane, so we had something in a nearby mall. She tricked me into taking her to the airport, too, afterwards.

I had this feeling that she wasn't too fond of my car (it was a '93 Eclipse) 'cause she drove a Porsche. Only if I had an S2000 then.

No, people only speak Chinese mandarin because the chinese nationalist driven from China took over the island(just like the Japanese, Dutch and the Portugese before them) and installed their language as the official language while banning the use of Taiwanese. The ban is release now, but it's too late. The majority of the population is already brain washed after decades of dictatorship under the warlord CKS.
Actually, since the Martial Law was lifted in the late '80s, more and more people had started to speak Taiwanese, especially the younger generation.

No, I have never been a big fan of DPP. I always see them as under educated group. However, it is not exactly their fault.
When the chinese came over, they killed off the majority of educated Taiwanese population, and got the rest of them to work for them. It's hard to recover from any plundering of culture.
The fact is that Taiwanes population now consists of both recent and older immigrants, on top of the aboriginals. I can't justify being "racist" by attacking recent immigrants or their descendent.
However, the fact is that those who are related to the family in the dictatorship are well educated for a good reason. They had the power and the money.
DPP always had the disadvantage. I would not criticise them anymore, but they have a long way to go before they even know how to play "politics".
