the reason for vented bumper covers isnt to see into the car and see the chasis, its for airflow, the rear bumper cover is just a big parachute, so aftermarket companies make vented bumper covers so the air doesnt get caught in the bumper it just flows threw and in turn makes your car faster on the track

paint the grill black and paint what ever you can see threw the vents black and it will look fine
I am aware of that. Note I said that "part of the appeal", at least for me, is seeing the chassis underneath.

Mugen's rear bumper requires you to take out that reinforcement bar as well.

get the JDM bumper support/crash bar. i remember in my last car, i got the Type R kit and it wouldn't fit with the US bumper bars. i got the JDM ones which didn't stick out as much and the bumpers fit fine. thats prob your best bet, but then again you'll have to wait longer to put the bumper on until you get the bar

you could do that but you have to remember japanese safty standards are nowhere as near as high as american standards, and you dont know how your american s2000 will react with japanese safty devices, it will not work as well as it whould with what is supposed to be on there

Oh, but even, ASM's street spec S2k has no bumper. At least from what I could surmize from the pictures I've seen of it. In the above ASM car pictures, the bottom one, is their street spec. You can see it in the following pic as well:

I've also seen pics of their customer's cars with the same rear and again, apparently, no bumper.

weren't you planning on getting the Mugen roll-cage anyway? I say ditch the bumper if you got protection.

The roll bar won't protect the gas tank.

It is clear-coated carbon. Part of the rear aero bumper
