All I know is:

#1 - You have pics as proof of the damage to give to your insurance agency and that dickhead driver. It also clearly shows the license plate...so none of that "oh, it wasn't my car that backed into you" bull$hit.

#2 - You left a note as a courtesy for that person to try and make reparations, only for him/her not to call back. (Given the circumstances, he/she SHOULD have called back right away to make amends.)

So, given those two facts, I say call your insurance company ASAP and provide those pics. File a police report while you're at it, and make sure to give the pics as proof (especially the one showing his license plate).

And as for the person who owns that car, well, how you deal with them (outside of the insurance/police) is up to you...

i was just providing a reverse scenario for you to think about just in case the other party tries to pull that...i was saying you were parked to close to the line in general as a cosmetic safety margin...I've seen how some people park at my job a good foot over the line at times...absolutely unacceptable....furthermore you didn't seem to upset about it or else you would've found out who it was that day...i hope you find out who it is and express your disapproval...I would tel them I have pics and will definitely go to the insurance/police...

Not trying to be hard on you but the earlier you take care of a situation usually the better

Happen to my Prelude. I took pictures also, only in my case it was trailer hitch and a new hole in my bumper. My insurance covered it when I provided pictures.

I would find the person, give them the speech about parking. Explain what happen, what kind a car this is and what it wil cost to fix it. Before he opens his/her mouth say that you had pictures/measurements taken just in case. Then politely ask for their insurance information.

I personally like to throw in details even if they don't know what that means, so if it's an aftermarket bumper that was repainted you tell them you spent $1000 getting it done last week and this happen.

I WAS FURIOUS when it happen to me. But with pictures and my insurance company took care of me. The person just had DUUUH look on their face. But people around him weren't too happy with what he did and what he hit.

BEFORE YOU CALL

If you just wanna get this over with and not bother other person just do this: If you call claim it hit and run, since you weren't in the vehicle, came out and there was damage they can't say it's yours or some one elses fault. YOU Didn't do it, who did isn't there and they can't call their insurance company absed of off the plate # that right now you have. NO ONE AT FAULT, they pay for your dammage, and it's not a moving violation so no points or increase in insurance.

I don't like that etha, but it is a higher chance of his insurance compnay actually paying for it.

If the guys keeps denying it, for all we know people can assume he pulled up to the car took pics and now filing a claim.

Hit and run is an easier way of getting your money back. Oh and I would still find the person later on :-D and give him shit.

Ive never filed a claim so i guess that doesnt make sense to me.. how is having the license plate number and giving it to my insurance company gonna qualify it as a hit and run...? or am i not giving it to them? just say i came out and my car was f'ed?

i would kinda feel like i wasnt sticking it to the person i was trying to stick it to my insurance company.. who is Esurance BTW..lowest rates i could find..but if by claiming it was someone who hit me and I give them their info and it makes my rates go up. screw that. ill do it the other way. no reason i should have to suffer.

maybe i should wait till i actually talk to this person and see if they wanna pay it out of pocket... i doubt it or they would have called.. but i do work with a bunch of Dr's.. so maybe. ?

No offense, but your pretty much screwed now that you've waited till after the fact.

Either you or your INS company will be paying, you've pretty much let them off the hook at this point.
