I'd be very curious (although I realize it will never happen) to see if any hard date could be produced to back up that kind of claim

Not trying to flame, just making a note because the racers are all very quick to dismiss a lot of JDM goodies as "snake oil" without a lot of data to back up their claims

You have to remember too that when you raise a wing very high up it can get to a point where it starts to create drag as well (something you have to consider and part of the reason that a lot of the JDM wings are "shaped" like they are in the middle).

the higher the wing, the less turbulent the air is that crosses it which allows you to make more downforce due to a smoother airflow across the spoiler. i'm not trying to correct you, i am just pointing some stuff out that you probably allready know.

drag is a given. anytime you add downforce it is going to add drag. its all just a compromise.

that wing will work great in theory, but i dont know that i agree with the angle. there are a couple of schools of thought on this issue and i tend to side with the other camp.
Very true! Yeah I'm sure the first wings work very well. I also know the JDM ones work very well and I simply wish we could do a comparison (although I realize how impractical that would be).

Alas how nice would it be to be able to just rent a wind tunnel

What would be cool is to devise an active wing. This wing would flatten to minimize drag while the car is on the straights and activate just before braking and turning. The technology is out there for such a flying wing. For example, when the accelerator is lifted, the wing actuator would sense deceleration and present downforce for braking and also sense lateral g's.
We'd need a pitot tube for air pressure, a g-force sensor, and a weight sensor.
I need one million dollars, a wind tunnel, a track, a workshop and a spare stook.

i agree, from the picture it look as if the front of the wing is pointing up, that will create lift, it may just be the picture tho

Inverted laminar flow wing would provide less drag. Look at the P-51 Mustang wing and modern jets. You wouldn't want too much vertical surface as it will cause the back end to straighten to the incoming air flow - so avoid a broad vertical plane surface to the horizontal downforce wing.
Anyone have a spare trunk lid, or know how to make a carbon fiber trunk lid?
With a spare, track-only, trunk lid, I'd be willing to experiment with an attached floating laminar wing.

The total package would include a lightweight under-body flat panel that diffused - or created a negative pressure zone under the car. Study the Lotus Elise - a total package.
