i guess i should rephrase...how did you mount it off center?
Its a 2pc. The first one is bolted onto the bumper reinforcment bar(see picture). The 2nd piece where the plate bolts up to will slide right over the 1st piece. A plastic screw that flares out will go through a hole which lines up both pieces preventing the 2nd piece from sliding out.

I like the side mount.

Did you make the bracket yourself?

My friend went to a print shop and made a vinyl of his plate and pasted on his front bumper, I'm not sure if it's legal wherever you are but if you were to take this approach you can paste it either without the H emblem and paste the vinyl there or you can paste it on the bottom front lip

or you can have a shop custom make a simple plate holder (like the rick's plate mount) for you on the bottom lip of the bumper (not on the cf lip)

Looks absolutely ridiculous from an aesthetic standpoint off to the side like that. Center it or leave it off.

It really doesnt look that bad when the plate is mounted. It is a very clean set up. However, It looks much more aggressive without the plate. I guess you just need to decide if you want to do the legal thing and have a front plate. When I lived in Ohio and was required to have a front plate (and I never did) I never had any problems. The choice is up to you.

front plate required here in oregon too. my temporary registration from the dealer is good until the end of august and I'm not installing the plates until the last minute. when I do get busted for no front plate I'll probably go with some brackets like those from Ricks. The plastic dealer brackets look like crap.
