Default Ap1 center console to ap2

Hey guys I have a 2002 ap1 and was going go purchase a 2007 ap2 center console. Is this a direct swap? Because i know on the 07 the defrost button is on the center console itself and the 02 is not. Any help is appreciated.

The console should fit. May take some fiddling. You need an extra switch for something?

Unless you rewire your current dash mounted rear-defrost switch the 2007 console will merely have a redundant, extra defrost switch that does nothing. If you do rewire it you'll have a redundant switch on the dash that does nothing. The switch on the 2006+ dash is Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA). The 2007 console has two drink holders (neither of which is useful if you expect to use the gearbox) and a larger sliding compartment. If you just want the drink holders and larger compartment the 2004-2005 console lacks the extra switch.

Not sure about colors. My 2006 center console is all black and I'm guessing the 2007 is the same. I know some earlier consoles have silver trim to match the dashboard instrument surrounds.

thanks for the info! Yeah i didnt care that theres going to be an extra button, as long as my dash one still works. That was my only concern.

04-05 don't have that button there. I have one for sale if you're interested in great condition.
