Mine's flaking off. Looks like probably heat damage from the sun. It's flaking around the same area plus around the shift boot.

I popped my old one off and sprayed it with texturized black trim paint. It looked great until that started chipping off too. Lol

For lack of a garage, my car sits in the driveway in the hot Florida sun. I haven't noticed anything yet. I do have a moderate tint all around with a hardtop that seldom comes off. I suggest that everyone get a tint if you haven't done this already.
