Default Stripping chrome on center console

Any one know how to strip the plating off the center console on an ap1, my is coming up and black underneath and I would rather have it black anyways, so any suggestions would be great.

The piece comes off fairly easily, its not that hard to take off and repaint.

Ok I got it off, but I don't want to use sand paper to get the chrom off, is there any cemicals that will strip it off without harming the plastic or will a heat gun loosen it without harming the plastic as well?

Pretty sure it's not real chrome, try using a 1500 grit sandpaper to get it off.

no!!! no sand paper!! lol
i used rubbing alcohol and just paper towels... you have to let it sit for like 3 seconds and let it soak into the paint then it just rubs right off witha little pressure
