Default Has anyone tried re-wrapping a steering wheel?

I found this thread, but it was sent out to be re-wrapped. It's beginning to separate around the inner corner of the tops of the spokes, not too bad. The leather still looks to be in good shape, it's like it just stretched apart and separated over the foam. Input would be appreciated.

I had mine done by JPM Coachworks several years ago.

I'd contact them to get a steering wheel re-done or buy another OEM one.

I just finished mine using redlinegoods.com wrap and foam to increase the wheel's thickness. It was easily one of the most tedious things I've EVER done for the S. I've re-skinned the seats, clutch, tranny tail drive swap, retainers, sc install, etc etc. I'll post pics when I get home this evening.

After asking every upholsterer in my area and finding no takers. I reskinned my wheel using redline also. I don't recommend doing it yourself/using their product. I also bought the foam but there was no way it would fit with the wrap they sent me. I've worked with guys from West Coast Customs and 310 Motoring(if anyone remembers them). I would rate the outcome about 75%. Unacceptable if I were to do it for a customer. But passable for pictures on facebook. $300 wasted. I'm planning on shipping it out to get redone by a pro in October.

Well, that's good to know. I was mostly wanting to just re-sew the original cover back on. Kinda like re lacing a boot. It just needs some tlc in the corners. Hopefully I'll be able to just pull the old thread out, adjust the leather some, and sew it back together without a big deal. But, like most things, hopes seldom reflect reality.

There is a guy here in dallas that does them...He has several S2k wheels in his gallery that he has done. I plan to have it done soon. FYI, he charges around $350 to re-wrap but at least you get to choose girth and style!

Pics (s2k of course) in their gallery on page 12, 17, 18, 19.

Your welcome Dallas steering wheel! I better get a discount!
