My first How-To; LED Map Lights
Hello all,
While I realize this is an easy project I wanted to contribute to my new community and share it with you all. First off my lights weren't working at all so I carefully removed the clear plastic cover and removed the two screws on the side. After separating the connector I opened the switch and cleaned the nasty corrosion from all contacts with sand paper.
These are the LED sets that I bought from the stupid-crap isle in AutoZone, $14.99ea. One thing worth mentioning is that if you're crazy like me you'll really wanna make sure you get two that match color wise, some of them can look very different.
For the connections, if you want to be able to easily remove the LEDs use the supplied two-prong connector and solder that straight to the backs of the bulb contacts. It's kind of a tight fit so make sure you locate the wires near a gap between the housing and the contact. Repeat for both sides and then connect the LED unit. Don't remove the backing from the mounting adhesive, you'll need access to that area to install the housing first. After screwing it back in to the car you can mount the LEDs. I found it best to mount them at a forward angle away from the passenger compartment. Snap the cover on and there you go! I think it looks much better than the plain incandescent bulbs and they should last forever. They may seem a tad too bright but it really isn't that bad, I really like being able to see when I get in and out of the car.
Enjoy!
Ty

I have very similar LEDS in mine. Except I didn't need to do any wiring. Mine came plug and play to a festoon bulb adapter.
I removed the factory bulb, installed the new festoon adapter in the same place, and voila. Yours seem a little more complicated then that.
Either way, I love how much light these things put out.

Mine did come with those adapters but the wouldn't fit and I didn't want to mess with the stock contacts. The light is awesome though, much easier to see when getting in at night.
