Glad it helped. Interesting that the 2003 warranty indicates "useful life of the vehicle" and the 2007 warranty says "15 years or 150,000 miles".

That is weird. Useful life is a relative term.

Default Seat Belt retractor

Had the same issue with my S2K and Highlander. Belt wouldn't retract. Saw a video on You Tube with an incredibly easy solution and it works. I filled a small bucket with dish soap & water & set it on the seat. Pull the seat belt out all the way and put a clothes pin on it to keep it from retracting. I soaked the belt overnight & couldn't believe how dirty the water was. Replaced the water with clean and rinsed the belt. Let it dry in the sun & gave it a try. Full retract and fast. Hard to believe dirt & sweat could cause this much problem. Did the passenger belts in both vehicles as well. Try it. What do yo have to lose?

Funny you mention that... The dealer I went to said they wanted to try that "repair" first. They wanted to charge me $200 per side to do it. Said they can't replace them unless they do that first. I told them that's nonsense, they can try it but I'm not paying them $400 to do something I can do myself. They ended up doing the "repair" for free, it actually did help but didn't fully fix the issue so I'm still having the belts replaced.

That really is a great tip if your belts are no longer covered under warranty.

I just stripped out my car for the track. Are you still looking for seat belts?

It's ironic that you posted this today Civiano -- I was planning to post an update this weekend. So, for those following along, I did finally take my S2K to my dealer of choice to have the belts inspected. This was almost a year ago. As I noted above they did agree it was a warranty repair (and I did have my waranty paperwork at the time which may, or may not, have helped).

They've had the parts in stock for awhile -- mad props to Honda Marysville in Ohio because they went ahead and ordered both the driver and passenger belts for me. I've procrastinated getting the repair done because it's actually a lengthy service visit and my car is kept at a weekend house so it's not an easy service visit for me logistically. My understanding is they have to remove the seats and get into the compartment behind the seats to install the new retractors. Estimate was was 4-6 hours. My car is finally going in this weekend for the actual repair.

Gotta hand it to both Honda and my dealer -- this is getting taken care of with little fanfare and I'm quite happy with how it's all gone.
