Props for cutting into the radio door!

We took a different approach with the radio door. The idea is the same - hardest part in our case is "smoothing" out the face of the radio door since it's not actually flat. Once we bondo'd the door we carefully cut out the window for the plexiglass and then had the entire piece sprayed gloss black.

To be frank the radio door location it too low to effectively look at it while driving. Doing so would be a serious accident waiting to happen. The blank dash portion above the radio is the ideal spot for the eyes to rest. This is why double din and now iPad mini are so popular.
