Default Steering Wheel Query

Hi all,

My steering wheel is looking tired and dated. I am going to get it recovered. However I also want to change the airbag cover for a newer one. My car is one of the original 99 S2000's, so it has the old style branding on the cover. I am assuming I have to change the whole airbag rather than just the cover? I am thinking of getting an air bag and cover from either an EP3 or DC5 as I want the red honda badge. My car has been fully resprayed in white with red Honda badges, so wish to continue the theme.

Can anyone tell me if this idea will work? Are the air bags the same? I can test this as I also have a DC5, but don't want to start disconnecting stuff if someone else knows the answer

Thanks in advance.
Rich

I believe that the DC5r wheel and the EP3 wheel both work in the S2000. I also know you can use the airbag from either in some of the years because they are the same style bag. I have been searching for the thread I had found a while back and can't find it.

Thanks, I assumed they were the same, as they are close in age, and it made financial sense to keep the parts the same.

DC5-R wheel and airbag are swappable for 00-05 cars, including the cruise control stuff. 06-09 require dual stage airbags so its not as easy.

Red stitching
Different leather texture
No stitching in the thumb area
No seams
No perforations
MOMO logo

Other than that its the same shape and size.

The OP was looking for a red Honda badge wheel, DC5-R is the OEM solution.

^ I paid a bit more than that to have my oem wheel re-covered by JPM Coachworks, it's expensive but I get to keep my airbag unlike some aftermarket wheels. The leather is better than any aftermarket steering wheel, and you get any custom options imaginable, I thickened up the wheel which is really nice compared to the skinny oem one.
