The Japan Trip is On!
Hey guys. Me and My boyfriend, Justin are very interested and making the necessary plans to attend. I was just wondering if anyone had any information on rental Cars? If so can you email it to me @ Jenipher0014@aol.com? Thanks :-)
John, Did you get the impression that anyone would be upset if a few of us bailed on the Sunday stuff and went shopping? Personally, I think I need to do more of that than some of you car freaks will, and I have to find a special kimono for a special someone while I'm there...
And who's idea was that????
Yeah, John. I was talking to Sondra about this last night. Considering our short time there, I really want to get to see a bit of the city...do a little exploring and shopping.
As it stands now, it's kind of like going to NYC and skipping the Empire State Building and Times Square.

I've seen some totally beautiful pictures of the countryside in Japan. Plus several of my friends have expressed a desire for me to check out the electronics over there, possibly pick something up that isn't offered in the States.
Heh. So much to do, so little time.
I'm having a hard time picking up on the differences between the Satuday car event and the Sunday one... If it's more of the same, perhaps time would be better spent elsewhere.

Guys,
I found out today that Takanezawa and Motegi are approx. one hour apart. Blunder #1. We'll still see both, but some of the racing activities close right as we arrive at Twin Ring.
The Saturday events are now optional.
The Sunday event, the Oha Mika, near Nagoya happens whether we are there or not.
[tantrum] I WANNA RIDE THE BULLET TRAIN! Waah![/tantrum]
Now all that's out of my sytem, don't get the idea that we're not going to see the sights in Tokyo. Our hosts have put forward ideas for the weekend that are not car-related. It sounds like we'll spend alot of time in the trendy entertainment districts as well as the more sedate locations during our stay. I'm an electronics nut,(among many other kinds) and I'm not leaving there without a visit to the Akihabara district. I'm buying a Japanese FM radio my first night over there. Their FM frequency band is lower than ours.
I want my picture taken out front of Budokan & Sony, get my Hard Rock T-shirt, and have the full experience of nightlife and cuisine.
I'm going to see their version of Times Square as well and get video of all the neon and the Jumbotrons, etc. Hopefully the very first night there. Can you tell I'm psyched?
Try to purchase a guide book this week if you haven't already, and look up Roppongi and Shinjuku. You'll see what I'm looking forward to. We won't be confused with the Davenport Angels of Mercy group staying down the hall if I can help it.

I just got confimed on a flight at a great price (630USD!). Now I only need to convince my wife to let me go...
I am a bit confused about the organization. It's difficult to make sense out of this thread. Should we start a new thread focussed only on trip organization?
We could start with a roll call and the current agenda.
