I used to drive an RSX type-S and switched over to the JDM type-r knob.. For reference it also uses a nut to fasten it in the correct position. A trick that a few of the RSX owners have used to get the knob in a lower seating position is to remove the nut from the installation and instead stuff little bits of tissue paper into the shift knob and screw it on. Add little by little until the knob sits in the correct position when completely fastened. I know it sounds mickey mouse but there is absolutely no way to tell that something so simple was used and its something that would last the lifetime of your knob installation. My knob sat lower with the nut gone and I enjoyed my shifter a lot more..

does the Civic type R in japan have the similar knob but stitching is in red instead of yellow.
Yes, I am pretty sure it's the exact knob except the insert color is red. It's off a FD2 Civic 4 Door Type R.

http://www.jdmland.com/ has this knob for like 60 dollars.

I didn't know the stock shift knob on the AP2 is titanium.. is that right?
No, the factory AP2 knob is aluminum with leather. There is an OEM accessory of the same shape in Titanium, which is the product for around $112 at handaacessories referenced above. That said, the OEM aluminum/leather knob is pretty heavy, much more than you'd expect from aluminum.

I just received a titanium Voodoo, and have the OEM titanium as well.

I got my CR shift knob yesterday. It feels good shifting.
I'm not digging the yellow numbers on it, doesn't match my all red interior, but that can be fixed, I hope....

I want to color the numbers.
Any ideas on what's the best method?

I'm going to pick up the JDM Civic type R knob (the one pictured above) sometime next week. We'll see how it goes.

Get NFR touch up paint or another red honda paint of your choice, use a toothpick and very lightly dab it onto the letters. This has been done a lot by people with the no paint aluminum knobs that want the type-r look from the DC5 community.. Results looked pretty much identical from what I could see in the pictures
