Didnt notice you were from Singapore, I consider that place my second home. I lived there for most of last year (Woodlands area).I think that even in Singapore 4.99 will be overkill and make your gears very short and less useful in the majority of situations.

But what trans is it? On a US Ap2 trans your 4.99 rear gear set will be equivelent to a approx 5.21 ratio on an Ap1 in the first 4 gears. I think you will hit 4th gear before you hit 60mph This is getting down right silly.

I will say that at least the ap2 trans has a bigger overdrive 5&6 gear over ap1, so this will help offset a little more on the hyw.

hi,

lots of americans in woodlands due to the American school being there.

saw the vid for the 4.77 but doesnt seem that aggressive.

tracy sports sells the 4.875 at a pretty okay price. will go check them out.

http://www.turnzero.com/technical_resource...gear_calculator

based on above, i will still hit 60 with revs to spare in 3rd.

however, there are some differences in the listed ratios from the website and the listed ratios in my hyperrev mag....

You don't have to own gears to know rpm at a speed for a given ratio. All you need is to know the rpm at that speed for the stock gear and a junior-high school education...

i track my s2000 and it is tooo much shifting with the 4.77s thats why i removed them. other then that from stop light to stop light they were great and werent bad highway driving. if you are looking for a more agressive start and quarter mile speeds go for it!!! good luck man

Yeah I was just making an exaggerated point. Sometimes you can pick too high of a gear.... and though it may feel snappier and quicker, it likely will slow your acceleration down compared with someone with a more conservative gear set such as a 4.30 - 4.44. More isn't always better when it comes to gearing.

I've tried several and i'm a fan of the 4.30 myself. 4.44 is maximum to get you to 60mph with still just one shift and will get you to the end of the 1/4 mile in the upper range of 4th gear, if gearing maximization is important to you for drag racing. Remember that the more power you make the less gearing will serve you better for this goal. On a stock s2000 I still wouldn't go any higher then 4.44. The other higher sets will feel marginally snappier and fun, so if thats what you care about the most, then see if you can get a 5.99 gear set somewhere. Might as well

Highest I've seen is 5.10, if anybody finds a FD higher than that, let me know, I might just put it in for the hell of it.
