Are you being serious? the pipe alone is $1200, a test pipe can be had for ~$75 new.

Sure there may be benefits to the gern pipe but is it $1000 in benefits?

Are you going to tune the car?

I'm not OP. I hope OP is getting a tune, otherwise it's pointless.

There seems to be some confusion in this thread.

The OP wants a transition pipe that starts at 63.5 mm on the input end, and ends at 70 mm on the output end. A simple 63.5 or 70 mm test pipe can be had all day long and is not what he is looking for.

He wants something that will smoothly transition from a stock size header to an oversize catback, without causing disturbances from abrupt step in pipe diameter you'd otherwise get if using a larger diameter exhaust.

A pipe like this is not as easy to make, hence the increase in cost compared to single diameter tp. Look at the photo of toda pipe in this thread to get an idea of work involved. Lots of welds and sections of cone shaped pipe.

Yeah this is one of those cases where there is the cheap option but it isn't going to have the taper due to the cost of producing that part and then the part that matches the criteria but it isn't cheap due to it being more complicated to produce. I do wonder just how much real benefit the taper provides. I know it smoothes things out some but at the end of the day it is likely a very small difference. I have the Tomei pipe mainly to match my titanium exhaust and since my car doesn't get driven daily I'm not really worried about it cracking anytime soon. Toda is nice but it obviously comes with a price. I have had the berk pipe before and it worked just fine.

I went with a straight 60mm test pipe and e-manage with karcepts tune. Night and day difference between tune/no tune.

I actually purchased a Toda 60-70mm taper test pipe. Currently on the stock header but my Toda "torquie-kun" is on the way. I doubt the taper really equates to much, if anything at all. But it definitely satiated my OCD from the header transitioning to my 70mm T1R 70 EM single. If you're strictly looking for function and performance per dollar, this is simply a bling piece. But I'd imagine there's a good reason why a couple manufacturers would go to such lengths to manufacture such a pipe as opposed to just offering a straight-through diameter like all of the rest. Fitment was absolutely spot-on. Very nice piece.
