Aluminum rear diffuser install
I'm having trouble visualizing the sides, too. So in top design, do you have a little flange actually sticking up vertically beyond the edge of the bodywork? Or is that tucked underneath the body and only the horizontal piece sticks out?
And the lower option, is it like a sandwich with the edge sticking out?
Also, are these side ideas part of the middle full-body piece, or separate?

Those were just really ruff sketches to throw out some ideas. The side diffusers would likely mount to the frame rails and come out flush to the edge of the car, on the top image, the round part would come up flush with the body work and have a flat edge to match the front splitter and rear side pieces, on the bottom one, the sharper corner would be flush with the side of the sils and curve under the car.
And Klean, the install will be exactly the same for the AP2. I haven't had much demand for any cutouts for jacking or for a piece like you've posted, unless you're running around at OEM height and using a low pro jack, its tough enough as it is to jack up under the diff. I find if I jack from the OEM jacking point on the side, I can usually get more than enough height to do anything I need to. If you're doing more serious repair work, you can just pull off the diffuser in less than 5 mins.

Judging by some of OEM lower tie bars other people have posted in the past, its bound to happen. Other than smashing it up a bit, how did it seem to perform for you on the track? Any personal difference in performance experienced given the speeds you were able to hit on the track? Your car looks awesome btw!
Thanks!!
It was difficult to notice a sharp change caused by the diffuser this weekend due to a 20mph head wind directly down the straight. Before the diffuser, on the longest straight on the track I am at the Rev limiter in 4th entering the carousel. However, I was able to get more speed exiting onto the straight which allowed me to shift into 5th at approximately the 500' marker before the carousel. So yes, I believe it does work well, I think given better weather conditions I will be able to provide better feedback. We had dust devils surrounding the track all weekend.
Jordan, My retired Honda Tec (w/me handing/holding things) just finished the diffuser install. It
took him 1 hr and 45 min total which including jacking up/down car and looking at install pics on
page 1 of this thread. All went smooth with the addition of sealent used at overlap clamp point
between front and rear sections and all fastner threads coated with Loc Tite. It looks great on
my '02 black AP1 with black OEM hardtop!
This Sunday (5 June), I will be drivng the s/c S2000 across Arkansas to attend a spirited S2KI & BMW
(car) Club run between Mount Ida and Mount Nebo. I will report on any handling improvements next week.

Installed it this weekend. Probably took an hour and a half or so. I ended up marking the hardware with a black marker until i get something better to use. I thought it looked cleaner without the silver hardware.
It was getting dark so I couldn't get any great pics of the diffuser up close, but I got a few that show it.

Overall very pleased. Nice work!

Take a look at these 2 ideas I have for side diffusers, let me know what you think, I'm thinking something more like the bottom design, it would attach at the frame rail and again right below the sil. Not sure if you would want the curve up or down. Maybe worth getting some feedback on.
Jordan, In the pics I posted I was referring to the nut pictured under the exhaust can just for reference. Their is also one under the flange that would hit if I bottom out, but I don't plan to bottom out any time soon. I am stock height so not too worried about it. I love my diffuser and my only real concern is the overlap point might catch some leaves or debris until I can get some black silicon to seal it up good...Here is a cpl pics of my diffuser fully installed with my exhaust heat shields, I think they really accentuate, not only the exhaust, but the diffuser as well!

Looking good so far guys. Its nice to see these are arriving in good shape and going on without problems.
Here are a couple more pics of the side pieces I worked on yesterday. The fender liner piece needs some more work to get the fitment right on the money, should have something worth selling in the next couple weeks.
You can see here how I will make the "step" on the side piece optional.

This was the prototype for the piece that will be completing the fender liner, I had to trim it a bit to get one on my car and I will be doing a few other revisions to improve fitment.

Looking good! Thanks for the update.
Am I correct in my assumption that the first picture represents the "bottom" of the side piece? It looks like you added a fin but I wasn't sure.
