I have perfectly fine AP1 tail lights, and I can get a pair of AP2s for next to nothing. Only problem is the clear cover is damaged. Can I bake and remove the cover from AP1 tail lights, and put them on the AP2s??

Yes the clear lenses will swap over from AP1 to AP2 tail lights (I've personally done it). I did break 3 lenses in the process. Unlike the headlights, the tail lights lenses are fairly flat so when prying them out of the housing they can crack pretty easy.

I would suggest that you cut the lens out of the AP1 assembly (bake, cut the black plastic away with razor knife). This is what I ended up doing to make sure I didn't crack another one.
