Is it hard to change the ignition on the s2k? Some guy will sell me an ap2 ecu with the match key and immobilizer for 200 bucks, which would be nice cause the ap1 key sucks.

AP1's run richer up top from factory on the stock ECU, and the AP2 makes more power everywhere and runs leaner which should make more power because it's not just dumping fuel aoverthrowing off the balance of the air fuel mixture..

Also both cars get into vtec at 5900/6000 rpm, but the AP2 gets there quicker because of gearing and makes more power under vtec also..

I've ran a few ap1's (modded) with stock gears and started out of vtec and I always get into vtec first.. (starting in the same gear and same speed obviously)
wouldnt an ap2 shifting at 9k beat an ap2 shifting at 8200 rpm?
I thought ap2's were known to lose or make no more hp past 8200 or so. Any one ever dyno a stock ap2 vs. ap2 with an ap1 ecu or are we just making things up?

wish someone had a bone stock ap1 dyno chart overlaid on on a bone stock ap2 chart..

Still not sure why the OP wants a AP1 ECU on a F22, both motors don't run/perform the same and they are tuned differently to get the most out of them..

I make power to 8600 but I'm not stock.

I'm not sure of the point of this thread. Why would you run a f20 ecu on a f22c? The issue with ap2 redline isn't the ecu, it's the engine. It's not very fond of going up to 9K; can it be done? Sure. Is it smart? Eh. I can raise it to 9k with my Flashpro, doesn't make it smart.

Also why would you want to run a fuel map from an engine with a -.2 displacement? With different timing? With different sensors? You can run EMS' on the AP2 ecu...

What is the big deal with revving to 9k?!

I drove a few ap1's and I really don't see the point in revving that high if you don't already have that platform..

Unless I'm missing something here..
putting an 00-01 ecu into an 04-05 was fairly common in the early days - most people who did the swap used modifry shift beepers that were set for 8500.. There are a bunch of old threads about it

the idea is to keep the F22 in vtec(where it makes the most power) I shift at around 8.4k with mine but the guys that make the power to stick out until 8.8 or 9k will be "deeper" in vtec. AP2's tend to make more power, the Ap1 transmission has longer gears, more power longer revs longer gears it pulls for what it is

No shift beepers they give the wrong impression just kidding, the thing to use now is EMS setting up a rev limit

Ap1 ecu in Ap2 = Awesome. Always in VTEC. I usually shift around 8.4-8.7k. I no longer hit the fuel cut in first gear, because it's at 8900rpm now . I think the biggest advantage is that it gives the extra room play in the redline zone.

Ok I can understand that..

Good luck to the OP.. Just majestic sure that if you do it, you do it right the first time..
